I can't throw away the ability to open existing documents, not worth it for $600/year.īut back to Adobe not liking perpetual licenses, yeah, known issue. Source must be perfect or you just wasted days of waiting + money.īut the ton of existing. Embedded fonts, transparencies are also no bueno. Print to foam/forex/dibond boards: lol these are frikken ancient. Print to flyers / folders, sure, those are often relatively recent. Newer versions may or may not work, but those industrial devices don't get updates for fun.

That's such a weird limitation, every printing press speaks PDF 1.3 / X-1a:2001. It may seem pretty esoteric, but I used to support a prepress operation, and in a setting like that it matters a lot. For example, see this recent (and ongoing) thread regarding Affinity and support for the PDF/X-1a:2001 format (. Unfortunately, alternative solutions often get stuck on edge cases in professional settings. Managing perpetual licenses is painful because it's supposed to be painful enough that you eventually stop fighting and subscribe to CC. What you're missing is that Adobe is pushing the subscription model, and any perpetual licenses they sell are done so grudgingly.

I just find it hard to believe that Adobe support is this bad - almost to the point where the pricing of Foxit or some other PDF alternative might be worth the added cost as they all have volume licensing and at a fraction of the cost of Adobe Retail - Or am I missing something? Of course that means that if you go to your account page in the program, anyone in our org could then get autologged into the management account cloud portal for the adobe account (meaning no security) - Great idea adobe! Their licenses for Acrobat Pro perpetual are individualized and their only solution for managing them centrally was to assign them *ALL* to the adobe management account (A single user) for the organization. If you need to transfer a license thats registered to someone you have to fill out a form and then ask adobe to "release it" in a process that takes days.

Ive been through this 3 times over 3 days now.Īdobe has volume licensing systems that are available but refuses to make them available for non-profits unless they pay full retail or use a VAR that is way more expensive than techsoup.Īdobe internally doesnt know about techsoup and its purpose. That was a dead end and their only recommendation was to go back to support, who of course started the entire chain over again. Another hour on the phone and their solution was for me to buy the licenses through them at 450 each and they would give me a volume licensing key.

Then after an hour on the phone the person I was talking to finally understood the dilemma of trying to manage individual licenses and send me over to Enterprise Licensing - Who promptly said exactly what the first person said - The licenses arent valid and they are fake. That there was no way we could get the product for $55. They originally told me that my licenses were fake. Adobe support internally has no idea what techsoup is or even then it is a valid organization. Of course Im sure that Adobe could help us out with either getting the licenses converted into a volume key to help us get them imported to a management console.

This is problematic for management of users and software as we expect to purchase 100-150 seats eventually.

Bought 10 as a trial and unfortunately they send 10 individual serial numbers. After talking to Adobe Licensing they said they had volume licensing available, but could not offer the pricing available to tech soup and to purchase our licenses there. I was elated when Adobe brought back a perpetual license of Acrobat Pro 2020 and it was available at TechSoup. Yeah - No - Adobe support has got to be one of the worst customer support experiences I've had, ever. OK - Maybe that's because most people buy 1-2 licenses and most non-profits are 5-10 people.

VMWare puts all SN in your management center - But Adobe? If you buy 100 licenses of Adobe Acrobat Pro 2020 Perpetual, they send you 100 unique serial numbers (Thats going to be a management nightmare). Microsoft gives you licenses through Volume Licensing. More of a rant than anything: Working for a non-profit now and leveraging good old TechSoup for discounts and licensing to get them up to speed.
